Sonic X Shadow Generations, one of the most anticipated releases among Sonic fans, combines a remaster of the original Sonic Generations with a bonus story campaign starring Shadow the Hedgehog. Shadow's presence as a playable character in the updated re-release has been a topic of much discussion, as he gets his own levels from past appearances and faces off against one of his most personal foes, Black Doom.

Sonic X Shadow Generations offers several pre-order bonuses, some exclusive to the physical or digital versions. The physical pre-order bonus includes a copy of Professor Gerald's Diary, detailing the creation of Shadow the Hedgehog, along with a legacy skin for Modern Sonic based on his blocky Dreamcast-era appearance in Sonic Adventure. The Digital Deluxe version includes a skin based on Shadow's Terios design from Sonic Adventure 2's planning stages, as well as other bonuses like a digital art book. Another pre-order bonus has now been revealed specifically for the physical versions.

Sonic the Hedgehog social media manager Katie Chrzanowski commented on the reveal of this new pre-order bonus.
